Preschool Aquatics


(Ages 4-6)

In our Preschool Aquatics class there is much more learning and a lot less playing. As children build comfortability they become ready to take on the next challenges of swimming short distances on their front and back all while recognizing the importance of safety. They are introduced early to front crawl and back crawl techniques to raise stroke awareness as they continue to explore their body movements in propelling themselves forward. Deep-water exploration is important so that they can better understand that it’s never about sinking to the bottom, but remaining at the surface. We believe that practice and repetition is key in building strong skills, not just blowing bubbles or singing songs.



(Comfortability Stage)

Ensuring your child is comfortable before moving on to the next level is important, this is our aquatic exploration level. All objectives are practiced in short lengths (3 to 5 yards) and shallow water (3 to 4 feet deep).


Prerequisites: No skills are needed to enroll into this class.

Course Objectives:
Submerge Mouth (Bubbles)
Front/Back Float and Glide (supported)
Position Roll (supported)
Front/Back Flutter Kick (supported)
Reach and Pull (treading actions)

(Basic Stroke Skills)

Our next level in Preschool Aquatics is designed to increase children’s proficiency in performing skills already obtained. This is accomplished by providing additional guided practice and an increase in distance and water depth.


Prerequisites: Your child should excel in ALL course objectives in BEGINNER and be prepared to practice next objectives in longer distances (5 to 15 yards) and a deeper depth (4 to 5 feet deep).

Course Objectives:
Fully Submerge and Hold Breath
Front/Back Float and Glide
Position Roll
Front/Back Arm/Leg Actions
Deep-water Exploration
Front/Back Streamline
Paddle (15-20 yards)
Wall/Block Jumps
Explore deep water treading
Introduction to Rotary Breathing and Dolphin Kick

Whats Next?

After completing the PSA II stage your child becomes eligible for INTERMEDIATE, although we have age standards for all levels, progression is extremely important in the development of all of our swimmers and exceptions do arise for those who show the improvement along with a high level of commitment!
