Team Prep

Our Team Prep program is designed for the intermediate to advanced trained swimmer who would like to further their skills to a competitive level or for the athlete who already competes for a swim team. Through repetition and timed drill sets the swimmer gains a better understanding of how to propel themselves forward using arms, core, and legs to improve their stroke hydrodynamics. Turns, dives and underwater work are also improved to assure the swimmer is balanced in each stroke. Opportunities at the competitive levels of achievement include: bettering stroke mechanics for a competitive swim team, Water Safety Instructor or Junior Lifeguarding courses.

INTERMEDIATE

(Stroke Development)

In INTERMEDIATE, the swimmer’s goals are to expand their proficiency of previously learned skills by providing additional guided practice. Here, we reinforce the dolphin kick and breaststroke kick and introduce headfirst water entry.

Prerequisites: The swimmer must excel in ALL course objectives in LTS II and be prepared to practice next objectives in longer distances (10 to 15 yards) and a deeper depth (+5 feet deep).

Course Objectives:
Bobbing While Moving Forward (Doggy Paddle)
Rotary Breathing (Stationed)
Streamline Kick (Flutter)
Streamline Kick (Dolphin)
Front Crawl 10 to 15 yards (Freestyle)
Breaststroke Kick
Elementary Backstroke
Headfirst Entry From Sitting/Kneeling Position
Deep Water Treading
Introduction to Backstroke and Butterfly

ADVANCED

(Stroke Improvement)

In ADVANCED, swimmers enhance their skills by increasing their endurance and swimming strokes achieved (front crawl and elementary backstroke) for greater distances while maintaining technique and exploring flip turns.

Prerequisites: The swimmer must excel at ALL course objectives in INTERMEDIATE and be prepared to practice next objectives in longer distances (20 to 25 Yards) and a deeper depth (+5 feet deep).

Course Objectives:
Front Crawl (100 yards)
Back Crawl (100 yards)
Breaststroke (100 yards)
Butterfly (100 yards)
Individual Melody (200 yards)
Open Turns
Flip Turns
Racing Dives (Diving Block)
Racing Starts/Finishes

COMPETITIVE I

(Stroke Refinement)

In COMPETITIVE I, swimmers refine their performance of all strokes learned to master endurance and increased distances while mastering flip turns on both front and back crawl. The individual melody is introduced.

Prerequisites: The swimmer must excel at ALL course objectives in ADVANCED and be prepared to practice next objectives in longer distances (25 to 50 Yards) and a deeper depth (+5 feet deep).

Course Objectives:
Front Crawl (50 yards)
Breaststroke (25 yards)
Butterfly (25 yards)
Elementary Backstroke (50 yards)
Back Crawl (25 yards)
Front/Back Crawl Flip Turns
Shallow Angle Dive
Introduction to Racing Starts/Finishes and Individual Melody

COMPETITIVE II

(Swimming and Skill Proficiency)

In Swimming and Skills Proficiency, swimmers learn how to execute competitive racing starts, while increasing distances and proper race finishes.

Prerequisites: The swimmer must excel at ALL course objectives in COMPETITIVE I and be prepared to practice next objectives in longer distances (50 to 100 Yards) and a deeper depth (+5 feet deep).

Course Objectives:
Front Crawl (100 yards)
Back Crawl (100 yards)
Breaststroke (100 yards)
Butterfly (100 yards)
Individual Melody (200 yards)
Open Turns
Flip Turns
Racing Dives (Diving Block)
Racing Starts/Finishes
