Splash Fit Swimming was founded by a group of aquatic instructors in Harlem teaching minority communities basic swimming skills and water safety awareness.

Pool Rules

Dunlevy Milbank Center

Entering the facility

Please be sure to sign in at the receptionist’s desk where you will find the pool entrance just behind you. Locker rooms can be reached by taking the stairs to the left of the main entrance down to the lower level, or by taking the stairs on the pool deck down to the locker room.

 

Seating

Seating for participant’s chaperones or family members are located in the bleachers overlooking the pool.

 

Facility specific rules

Please note that all rules are strictly enforced by the Splash Fit Swim Club and Children’s Aid staff.

 

  • Enter facility through approved entrances, be sure to sign-in at the receptionists desk prior to entering pool
  • Street shoes aren’t allowed on pool deck | This includes crocs or footwear worn on the street
  • Changing on deck is prohibited | All participants who are to enter the water must be changed in the facility’s locker/dressing rooms in the lower level
  • Wear proper swim attire/no underwear beneath bathing suits | Trunks with netting or jammers for males, one piece bathing suits for females
  • Guests over the age of 5 are not permitted to enter the opposite gender restroom/locker room, family changing rooms are located on the lower level in between the male and female locker room entrances
  • The facility offers women’s, men’s and family/gender neutral dressing rooms
  • Cell phones, cameras or other electronic devices may not be used or visible in the locker rooms
  • All bathers must shower before entering the pool
  • Children/toddlers who aren’t yet potty trained must wear a swim diaper beneath their swimsuit
  • Wear a swim cap
  • Flotation devices are  not allowed in the pool
  • Eating/drinking isn’t allowed in or around pool area/bleachers
  • Glass containers are prohibited within the facility, including bleachers or spectator areas
  • Only participants are allowed on pool deck unless otherwise advised by a staff member
  • Lap lanes are intended to accommodate multiple swimmers simultaneously | Staff may ask patrons to share lanes when pool accommodations are limited
  • Lap lanes are for lap swimming only, walking may be allowed at the discretion of a staff member
  • Patrons must be able to pass a swim test in order to enter the deep end of the pool.
    • Swim test is conducted as follows:
      • jump in the water from the side
      • recover to the surface, swim 25 yards with a competent stroke
      • tread for 1 minute, then exit the water

 

Failure to adhere to any of the rules above may result in termination of your active enrollment and membership.

John Jay College

Entering the facility

Please be sure to demonstrate a photo ID to Public Safety at the check-in desk to be allowed entry. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Pool is located in cellar level.  Locker rooms are located to the left prior to pool main entrance.

 

Seating

Spectator seating is not available on pool deck. Participant’s chaperones may sit in waiting areas on campus.

Pool is located down the hall past the desk, first door to your left.  Locker rooms are located to the left prior to pool main entrance at the end of the second hall, second door to your right.
